Since 1996, the Democratic Republic of the Congo has been in the bloodiest war since World War 2. This war has been named "The African World War" because many foreign armies are involved. These foreign armies are from Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Chad, Libya, and Sudan. Since the beginning of this war it is estimated that 5.4 million people have died, and that half of that 5.4 million were under the age of 5. It is also estimated that 45,000 more people die each month from disease and famine. In this war, rape was also being used as a weapon. The fighting continued in the eastern part of the country, destroying infrastructure, and causing physical and physiological damage.
